What is it with everyone in the UK's obsession with chequer-plate? We get all the usual Land Rover mags out here and it seems as though the first bit of kit to go on any Pommy Defender is acres and acres of the stuff! Do you really have people standing on your front wings that often? What about the weight and effect on MPG. Sorry folks, I just don't get it. 2007 Defender 110 1970 Alfa Romeo 1750GTV |

It's worse than you think; the teen driver market is also obsessed with the stuff. If you see a 1.2 Corsa or Polo chugging around with 1000w of noise blaring from the Blaupunkt I guarantee it will have a "racing" filler cap cover (usually plastic made to look like alloy), the dash will have some chequerplate and parts resprayed to match the exterior colour and there will be some chequerplate floormats, usually made of silver polyethelene made to look like chequerplate. There's a bloke on ebay getting rich selling rolls of the stuff.

I suppose Defenders are one of the only vehicles with wing-tops that encourage putting stuff on them. On most other cars stuff would just fall right off.
Still, I think the youth who like to soup-up their rides with all manner of performance modifications then weigh the car down with ten tonnes of chequerplate and stereos need their heads read. , I'm only in my thirties and I'm starting to sound like a grumpy old man. Dad would be so proud. 2007 Defender 110 1970 Alfa Romeo 1750GTV |

Time for a update !!
Now at 2500 miles, and just back into the dealers for the 3rd time, for them to sort the ABS/Tracs light problem, they have now fitted a new sensor, ?? which have taken a few weeks to get hold of, due to a supply/fault problem. Hopefully now all sorted Another niggle has been the l/h rear most seat, the hinge/mount assembly needed replacing, as their seams no adjustment, and was catching the underside of the seat, and damaging the seat base cover, new ones now fitted under warranty. Fuel consumption is still not good, around the 21mpg, but all been mainly towing, California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1 Main Brian James Trailer Dealer for South West UK |

TJ101, you are not the only person to have had problems with the TC / ABS light, I have a 90 XS and it has been off road (in the dealers) for the last 2 weeks with the very same problem. I was also told that there were no sensors in the country and they were on back order. In the meantime I have been putting miles on Enterprises loan Disco3 so every cloud Enterprise however have proved themselves to be a great big pile of pooh. My XS was diagnosed as very poorly (get you home mode) and Enterprise were instructed to get me a 4 x 4 that could tow 3.5 tonne as that was what I bought my 90 for, 4 days later and afer a tobacco filled Passat was pointed out as not being capable of towing, they turned up with a D3, tow bar and all, but when I took the cover off the electrics, guess what............. I phoned up Enterprise and was told that the 2008MY D3 does not have the support for towbar electrics due to a compatability issue. I then phoned LRA as enough was enough, fair play to Melanie at LRA she put a rocket up someones backside and I now have a D3 with all the bits I need! So the moral of the story is this LRA excellent and very helpful, Enterprise mmm, Lego comes to mind Glueless Kits! 2019 MY Disco 5 HSE Lux

Mine's now done 6,000 miles with just a few niggles (warped discs being the worst) but no sensor problems (touch wood).
Still got a rattle frome the brake pads (seems to be the front now) which is causing head scratching but the dealer service has been first class, although when it went in for new discs last week I got a Freebie 2 HSE not a RR Sport. |

Has the fitting of the snorkel done away with the intake noise. I put a post up today, mine sounds like a Subaru Impreza, under acceleration. As I drive with the window down most of the time, its really getting on my nerves.

Am sure , if you check some of my previous post, I too reported about a loud induction noise, from the intake, and at the time, listen to a few other,, all the same,, To be honest, i do not notice it so much now, even before the RAI was fitted,,
Don't worry, in 6 months, doubt if you will notice either !! California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1 Main Brian James Trailer Dealer for South West UK |
