My 07 Puma is the same. I did not want stones thrown up by the tyres stripping paint off the bulkhead so I purchased some insertion strip (rubber strip) and mounted it using existing bolts and plastic studs in the wheel arch and the mounting bolts of the front mud flap assembly. Job done. All exposed areas protected. Nothing fancy but it works.
I also bent up some 20mm square tube and mounted this in the rear arches with rubber strip as well. This cut stone damage to the rear arch and cuts down noise from road debris and water hitting the inner guard. Once again used existing points to mount with no extra holes drilled. You just have to keep an eye that mud does not get trapped there when driving on the tracks otherwise the tin worm might get a hold. Hope this helps. |

Yep,
I'll take some snaps this weekend of the front and rear guard protection and try to post them. The rear protectors are "prototype 1" and will be upgraded when I get some time. They seem to do the job as is and will give you an idea on what I am on about. Many of the gravel roads here in Aus would pepper the inner guards bare in no time not to mention the noise factor. I know most would not bother protecting the rear section but I like my truck and want to keep it as well protected as I can. I am hoping to hit the outback roads May next year for 3 -4 weeks so I will have to have a more permanent set up finished by then. I am installing rear cargo draws in the next month and have fitted the new style ARB frontal protection bar (bull bar), driving lights and Safari snorkel. To many bits to buy and never enough money! |

I found that rubber camping mattres are very efective (about 3 mm thick). Easy cut and paste and the noise will be away. After a while you will see how many stone impacts they recieved. I would say mine has about 8000 km on dirt roads Puma 110" SW

Hi guys,
Took the photos but I need a 5 year old to explain to me how to get them posted. I thought I could just simply upload them but this is not the case. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |
