Lazy wipers / blown fuses | |
Hi Folks,
This has probably came up many (thousand) times before but here goes...
I've got what looks like a lazy wiper motor on my 09 defender. They've always been slow or seem strained, thats the only way I can explain it. the other week they stopped working, actually blew the fuse.
I started messing around, took the blades off the screen, replaced the fuse, they started working. then blew fuse again when put the blade back on screen. Did this a few times...even gave them assistance with my hand, they worked again.
then this week, they stopped again, did the same thing as above and they now seem to be working again. I just dont feel confident heading out in it when there's dark clouds above! Living in Scotland, theres a lot of them!
Any clues as to what this might be, really dont want to get the dash off...but, if needs be!
thanks,
Dale

I had this and it turned out to be the wheel boxes seizing up so I replaced them with two cheepo ones which lasted about three weeks then did the sensible thing and stuck genuine ones in. Twice a year I take the wiper arms off and with the switch turned on so they're moving I spray acf50 into the small gap at the front and haven't had a problem since. Ray
