you don't need a leaky old engine , rear crank seals aren't the best on tdci when new !

Similar problem but maybe a different cause?

I took the big hose off that goes into the turbo (the one that has the breather pipe coming off it) and found slight traces of oil there and also on the inlet side of the turbo. Not a lot of oil, more of a smear than anything - oil is also very black even though an oil and filter change has just been done.

Engine has done 16,500 miles.

Is this anything to worry about and what - if anything could be causing it?

Thanks in advance,

Pete.

sounds about right as long its not dripping in oil in the hoses or blue smoking

youre always get a bit of oil though the breather

Thanks for the quick responses gents.

Is it worth removing the hose periodically to wipe out the oil on the inside to stop it going into the turbo? Or should I just leave it?

Thanks again,

Pete.

95% of the oil will get sucked in when running as the engine is running anyway so wiping it out wont make much difference, ok it wont hurt but not really gonna make much difference
