Hi guys, had a bit of a brain wave the other day and it's got me thinking, I'm looking to buy a reversing camera to stick on my 15 plate 90 to point at the tow bar to help with solo hitching up, I've looked at kits like this on eBay: http://m.ebay.com/itm/201289912084?nav=SEARCH
But I don't really fancy sticking that big ugly bit to my dash, so started thinking would it be possible to buy a 2nd hand drivers sun visor and hollow out a section, then take the screen out of that housing and fit it into the visor? So it's neatly tucked away when not in use but can be flipped down when needed? Has anyone done anything like this or seen it done before where I could steal some ideas from? Second from the bottom CM-V2, mounts to the under side of the sun visor. Only works in reverser for obvious reasons, but works a treat. I have had it now for several years and you can use the heat sink as a vanity mirror if required. The screen has decent clarity, colour options, and sits nicely on a Defender visor.
I bought their 120/90 split camera which is on the site under cameras. It's not linked to the screen. I have one pointing at the tow hitch, and the other out the back. I flick between them if required via a little remote control that game with the camera. If you go the two camera option you need to request two cables with the screen order as its usually only supplied with one. I find a 150+deg camera gives a squered fish eye view, which is too hard to work with at night and judging distance anytime I feel. A 120 doesn't offer enough tow ball/ out the back view IMO. I can easily reverse down a hill, then kiss the tow ball on a trailer if required with how I have set mine up. http://www.polarisrearvision.com.au/rear_v...meras.html My Defender and travels |

I cut out my passenger side sun visor to fit a screen. It’s not for a reversing camera but the same idea could be used for one. Mine is used for a computer screen. The visors are quite easy to cut, if you cut the outer cloth first with a craft knife then drill and saw the opening you require. Depends on how big the screen is but I found it easier to cut right through and put a plate on the outer side of the visor. The computer is a Raspberry pie running Openelec controlled by a mini keyboard.
