Yup, EGR valve, that's what they do.
One day it will stop doing it and you'll need a new one. Until then ignore it. (You can always tell people that it is the security system arming!) |

It's the EGR. Mine could be heard from 30m away when I stopped. Got it replaced yesterday and after having such a loud noise for over 12 months I kind of miss it when I stopped the car and it didn't do it. 110 2.4TDCi 110 300Tdi LROCV ::: AULRO.com |

You should start worrying when the EGR starts sounding like a cat mating
It's probably a good ideal to take it out and clean it, ask your stealer to do it at every service. |

i did get told by a nice man from land rover assist that if yoyur egr valve sticks just start and stop your engine 5 or 6 times and it will free it's self, this is because the noise you hear is it going through a cleaning cycle,
