5 years - Nothing! Not quite true, the spec keeps changing between carpet and rubber mats on the XS model

5 years.... Well, you get a leash on the fuel cap in order not to loose it, and you get some holes in the rear door handle (part of LR weight saving program and Eco footprint improvement for the Defender). Oh, and you get a DPF. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Don't forget, traction control and ABS as standard from MY2014 onwards and stability control as standard from MY2015 onwards.
Also got a supposedly slightly upgraded alarm for 2014 with a different type of remote fob. battery Backup alarm sounder standard now too (from 2012?) |

But the good news is .... you still get dodgy clutches, terminal output shaft failure, water ingress etc

Thanks everyone...I did notice that after hundreds of years (ok exaggeration) the weight saving/cost saving on the rear door handle.
Having been one of the first to post about clutches - I forgot I had 1 or 2 back in the day, its not the best to hear they still break - water ingress wasn't that bad on the 90, I certainly wouldn't have sunroofs! Looks like a September build for ours, 110 utility wagon, probably XS spec - detail to be planned Have they fixed the or improved the bonnet theft stuff - just as sold the last 90 they were going faster than they could be made, I had my own security - but it would be good if there was a fix. I also noticed it seems difficult to get a contrast roof, despite seeing 2 with them in 110 form - am I missing something or is the website wrong? Mike |

Hi Mike
Clutches still go, same problems as the 2.4. Mine has just been replaced at 17K. Bonnet's are exactly the same as the 2.4, still removable but a number of companies offer security hinges now. Contrast roof was an option when I got mine in 2013, and were still an option in 2014. Maybe they have now removed it ? Not sure if this is a common problem or not but mine is now throwing the MIL light at every opportunity with a P0130 code and various others. Nobody seems to know what is going on but it only happened after the clutch was done. Dealer has seen one before and it was a damaged or corroded harness. LR themselves are supposed to be on the case this week - time will tell One thing that takes a bit of getting used to on the 2.2 is the rev hang on gear changes, it is supposed to make the change smoother. Some like it some don't. Thanks
On the roof we cant fully tell, there does seem to be one option of the silver design pack, but eventhing else seems to imply the roof isn't available on 110 hard tops we will see. I cant believe (well I can) that the bonnet security hasn't improved, I did naturally assume the clutch might be better on the 2.2 v the 2.4, but clearly not. Funnily this car will replace my wifes, so I better get her to drive it see if she likes the rev thing Mike |
