Range Rover drivers, targeted by the police
In an attempt to kerb the growing number of "keyless" thefts the Police (in posh parts of London) are now targeting Rangie's and other marques, they're pulling ALL 4x4 BMW and Range rovers over after midnight.
Altho,if it spreads to other parts of the uk,I'd be inclined to stick a BMW and Range Rover badge on my Defender, twice as likely to be pulled by the Police after midnight then,no Whistle ??

I don't think it is the same 'crew'. I think this is a crew of Green-voting Brighton residents, stealing and storing RRs for future ceremonial burning on the night of the Summer Solstice. Fatboy Slim will be laying down some choice cuts, playing some phat slabs and all will be merry as the Chelsea Tractors burn.... Evil or Very Mad Monsieur Le Grenadier

Jaguar to foil car theft with . . . a key
and things go full circle...

"THEY have stopped short of reinventing the wheel but Jaguar Land Rover, the prestigious British-based car manufacturer, may be planning a “reinvention” of the car key.

The automotive firm, which hopes to produce a driverless vehicle within the next decade, has decided to re-evaluate its keyless technology following a spate of thefts of its luxury vehicles by thieves using hi-tech key programming devices.

The thieves use technology similar to that employed by breakdown services to bypass locks, then plug in a gadget that programs a blank keyless fob to enable them to start the engine.

Jaguar Land Rover has filed a patent application in America that suggests it is developing a new security device that will lock and unlock the doors, but will not be used to start the vehicle."

http://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/news/u...2015_06_27

Apparently, "In common with other luxury car manufacturers, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) abandoned metal ignition keys because of concerns that they were becoming embedded in the knees and legs of some drivers involved in high-speed collisions."
