Do it the easy way. look at your chassis plate (VIN) there will be your.
Chassis number. Max vehicle gross weight in kg`s Max drive train weight in kg`s 1- This means 1 St axle gross weight. 2- This means 2 nd axle gross weight. As long as your tyre max weights, when added together are over the axle weight your in. So if your 2nd axle weight is 1200kg and both your rear tyres are 650 kg`s each +1300 kg`s Easy innit. But don`t go and wack 350 kg tyres on one side and 1150 kg tyres on the other. It would be silly. I`ve seen it done. Also make sure your speed ratings are N = 87 mph or above. You never know that hill may be long and steep !! Excuse the spelling I`am better with spanners and wires. |

Thanks martinfiattech,
My 90 is 1200Kg front axle and 1500Kg rear, so 600kg and 750kg per wheel respectively. So, 116 on the tyre chart is 1250Kg - that is more than enough? |

Afternoon lads.
Yes your tyre weights are right. But I would always try and err on the side of caution with tyres. By this I mean put slightly higher weight ratio tyres on than the max axle weight, along with matching weight rating, make / tread pattern. Etc. We have all over loaded a vehicle from time to time, I know I have. I understand some times this is a financial issue. But safety is important. (he now thinks and wonders what is fitted to his own 90. At least I know my axle weights now !!) Off to have a look soon. Munch, when does this end dual purpose class come in, this is the first I`ve heard of this. (I always thought it was some kind of tax dodge anyway) Myself I`am class 4 and 7 registered tester. (would`ent want to get involved with class five, not worth the hassel) You would have think it would have been in matters of testing. Or at least in a special notice. Still it will save some confusion. Just think what the motor home owners will make of it. I can hear the letters going to the caravan club already...... Excuse the spelling I`am better with spanners and wires. |

Ah yes, I remember now. Now, I`ve googled it !!
I spent more time reading the bit about the sprinter bottom arm ball joints issue. Many a thorny subject within our workshop. I think I printed it out and stuck it to some ones tool box, due to his ball joint addiction. That quarter he got stars against his test failures. Still nice to see vosa moving fast on this one. Won`t expect anything till COPM 2 is sorted. Thanks martin. Excuse the spelling I`am better with spanners and wires. |

Evening Chaps,
I'm still learning so bare with....currently running BFG 265/75/R16 123/120 S KO and managed to pick up a screw that tyre shop said just outside tolerance for repair. Typical, as tyre is like new. Anyhow, can't find an exact replacement, but finding 2nd hand tyres with same spec, but different load rating like 120/116 S. Aesthetically looks spot on, but will I notice any difference or is it a no no? Regards Matt |
