What doesn't make sense is this with regards to whether a 32 amp or 40 amp should be used and makes the rating of it immaterial. I would still concentrate on the input side to the pullcord.

I know there shouldn't be .... but is it possible there's an extract fan also connected to the shower circuit (or anything else for that mater).
sounds like a neutral to earth fault to me. could the fan be humidity or timer controlled? if there is anything connected can it be isolated / turned off? - food for thought. |

With it tripping with no load it is either the pullcord input supply or a 'lazy breaker' letting go when it feels like it. If you have another breaker of the same rating in your board swap it out and see if the fault transfers. One thing to discount before you shell out good money for a sparky. The neon will not illuminate until the cord is pulled. If the breaker is tripping with it switched off you can safely discount the neon as being the issue. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

The spark came out had a look and concluded that it was the breaker (at least partly at fault) and replaced FOC. But, I do think I will have to upgrade the breaker and wire to the shower I think the shower is a 7500 - 8500w so at the limit of the breaker. I think he mentioned (I was not present but the mrs was) that the breaker has +10% on the load rating? 1999 Defender TD5 110
