There may be an internal fuse to the head unit power board. Try using paperclips perhaps instead of the multimeter probes to determine if you still have power at the ISO connector. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Hi - they appear to be, in that I was able to get a different HU to power up fine. The only difference (aside from the HU itself) is that I wasn't using the ISO adapter for the Alpine; I just plugged into the factory LR loom.
I tried the multimeter with the red wire's bullet connector and got some crazy reading, in the 40s, was expecting around 12v? |

Daft question perhaps? Sure your reading wasn't millivolts? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Ah well, truly shorted it. Had a word with Alpine and there is an internal fuse, soldered on the board.
Simple enough fix (for them), so off it goes to the repair guy. Cheaper than buying a new one. |
