I Want a 110
Hi Everyone, first post on here so please be gentle!

basically I'm just after abit of advice with what i should be looking for. I've never owned a Land rover before and I'm currently using a mercedes for my personal stuff and i use transit van for work. I'm looking to roll everything into one and use my defender as my everyday car AND van. Due to using it for work I'm going to need the 110 for space and i also want a 5 door. apart from that I'm very undecided and keep changing my mind while I'm doing research.

now my question is what is a good ballpark to be spending on this vehicle, i don't want to get silly with it but at the same time i want it to be solid and reliable. electronics and mechanics aren't an issue for me to deal with however I'm not looking to take on a massive project.

regards Smile

Michael

you need to drive one. so much depends upon your expectations of how car like you expect it to be. whats your budget? the newer "puma" ones with 6spd gearbox drive nicer but theres more to go wrong.

Depends what you usually put in your van?

If you regularly fill your van up then a 5 door 110 will not really be for you as the seats do take up alot of room, even when folded up in a utility wagon. If however you only have a few tool boxes and some odds and sods then a utility wagon would be fine Thumbs Up

If however you regularly have lots of big bulky stuff then a 110 high cap with a hard cover may be more suitable but will ultimately mean your limited to 1 passenger, or 2 passengers if you get an older one.

Ultimately you need to decide what it is you are going to be using it for most and what you are going to put in it. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Also, there is much less space in a defender than you think which is worth considering. Try and find a local dealer and have a good nose around one Smile Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Michael,
Defenders are great for putting a smile on your face but they are not the easiest of vehicles to live with. I couldn't part with my 110 and look forward to taking it to work on the odd days when I need to pull the trailer BUT as an every day vehicle I think my Custom has more practicality.
Try and drive before you buy or see if you can loan one for a few days - what goes in the back of a Transit will need to go on the roofrack of a 110.

Michael. I use my 110 utility puma. For pleasure towing a caravan etc . Work, going to the wholesalers I'm amazed how much I can fit in. Also towing a Ifor Williams twin axle trailer. Anything I throw at it it does. It took 2 months 2000miles to
Get used to the gears. (Getting in and out) etc. but it is so brilliant. Both my wife and son enjoy going out in it. You feel safe. I'm up and down the motorway. Can't find any faults. Just make sure you test a few they can all feel different. Good luck
Russell. Ps not used it off road yet waiting to get it waxed oiled
