50k for 360hp?
I think not. I could build one with nearly twice the power for nearly half the money.. |

We will have to agree to disagree mate.
Minus engine I reckon I've spent about 10k on my build. Including new bulkhead and galv chassis. Are you trying to say I couldn't build a 600hp Chevy LS and buy a suitable gearbox for around 15-20k?? Oh and before you say I couldn't, I don't charge myself labour. I don't get companies to do my work for me |

Well you said you could build an engine with twice the power for half the cost
we dynoed that motor to see how honest GM performance are - it made 361bhp at 5500 rpm and 410lbs tq at 3800rpm To double that - 720bhp - good luck you would struggle to build a street LS - even a 7 litre - that would put that out without serious forced induction - a 572 rat would do it but they are a nightmare to fit in a LR and are very heavy As for a transmission - TH400 is primitive - and 4L80E4 can be beefed up So it could probably be done - but the laws of diminishing returns apply As for not charging out your labour - well that is up to you mate you obviously wouldn't go to all that trouble though and sell it for less than it cost you - well because of a new business venture Chris has to - you shouldn't be dissing his car- if you had anything about you you would realise how much time and effort has gone into it and sympathise with his predicament. He doesn't want to sell it so stop chirping from the sidelines |

I said "almost" twice the power....
And this is a public forum. If I want to say what I feel in so much as i think it's overpriced, then I bloody well will.. Sorry if it hurts your feelings. |

It looks like a nice motor but it's a bit old school in the conversion - cast iron lump, carb, distributor, hooked up to a ZF auto box. Does seem to be a lot of money for that combination, especially given that a modern engine with EFi, coil per plug, hooked up to a 4L80E will give better power and reliability. I could understand that if the vehicle were otherwise similarly old school but it's not been shy of electronics in other areas.
Having said that some people will find the "old school" approach appealing and, engine and transmission aside, the rest of the motor looks to be in good shape. Like others, I'd build my own for less but then I'd always feel I could do a better job myself As for the critique, I think you'll find that's partly a result of the section you posted it in, eBay ads posted in here are done so for discussion. There is an announcement post at the top of this forum that you could read if in doubt. Custom built vehicles are a pain to sell and price, they are worth what someone will pay ! If you want a really depressing conversation, try agreeing an "agreed value" with an insurance company ! http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ |

Soŕry to say but i also think its way overpriced as well
1, you never get your labour costs back on something like this 2, the spec maybe good for one person not for others , so they might want to spend more on it to get it to they liking lowering its value to them 3 , sorry again , but its not that special , from the pics it looks like all the extras are just off the shelf parts , nothing one off ( only going by ebay pics so might be wrong |
