Brake Overhaul
Hi All,

So did some routine checks on the defender today and the front pads were knackered, Badly worn however on one side much more than the other!

So i have take the calipers off as had real struggle pushing back the pistons. Can these be serviced ? what is the best approach as at the moment the pistons barely want to move!

You need only two tools in life: WD-40 and duct tape.
If it doesnt move and it should: WD-40.
If it moves and shouldnt: duct tape it.

Pistons rusty ?

If the pistons are rusty and you get them back in
1 , good chance they leak because rust will damage seal
2, your getbrake bind on the tight caliper hence why one side is worn more then other
3, brakes will not work as well as they should

time to rebuild calipers with new seals and pistons ( could fit stainless pistons )

buy new calipers

Hey Munch, there is the odd bit of marking on the pistons but they are stiff as Censored at the moment and really don't want to push back so next i guess is to pull apart and inspect.

any ideas on where to find stainless pistons ? Defender 90 TD5 County -
