you gotta love these defenders! - i opened my passenger window a little to let in some air to demist the windscreen, while driving in the rain.
BUT, the "pull" of the air through my door means that i get rather wet! (i can see the road through the closed door). absolutely wonderful! www.ralton.co.za |

I fitted deflectors on mine.
Made no difference at all. (Does stop drips coming in when I'm parked.) |

I think there was a technical bulletin on this.
The fix is pretty simple. Wear a coat i finally diagnosed where all the water in my passenger footwell was coming from: it's the drain hole in the heater vent getting blocked. There's a little 'sump' in the intake duct that leads to the drain. It's supposed to prevent water passing into the blower. The rubber seal in the drain gets clogged and the pool builds up until it flows through the heater and out of the interior intake by the passenger's feet. Might add one of those horrendously expensive (and too pretty IMHO) KBX vent scoppy-things to prevent water collecting in the first place. Any joy?
I think the situation is made worse on mine because of the chequer plate. I think all the water on the wing basically runs down the plate and into the vent because I get a lot of water ingress even when there's not been much rain. I'll probably end up with either one of those KBX covers or a snow cover of some description and copious amounts of sealant. Tell you what I'm still fascinated by driving in the rain... The way the raindrops keep running round the front windows in a clockwise direction (anti-clockwise on the passenger side) when your going above 50-ish... Never worked out why they do that!

They're just looking for a way in. If you look close enough you can just make out their hands pressed to their foreheads and their screwed up eyes as they peer through the glass. They keep going round and round until they find the (inevitable) way through. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS
