Coastal Watch
This was yesterday at the Boscastle Coastal Watch Station - my neighbour's a keen lookout member, I've assisted a few times recently, there's no mains services - power comes from solar panels and a wind turbine on the roof, we've had to take down and dismantle the turbine and send it away for repairs, plus we've just laid a cable from the lookout to the cliff face for a surveillance camera which will be able to see boats coming in/out of the harbour and look for kayakers in trouble along the rock edges, they're sometimes too small to be picked up on the radar.
The station totally relies on volunteers for manning the lookout and maintenance.
It's a fair trek from any road or civilisation, the cables, camera, tools and equipment would have taken a few trips up on foot so I suggested taking the 90 up, we had to get special dispensation from The National Trust to take a vehicle up, but it was well worth it.
If anyone's in Cornwall on The South West Coastal Path then please drop in and say hello, it's a great spot ....

Boscastle is a magical place, highly recommend to visit it when around.

Lambley, you are a lucky man to have driven your 90 up there Thumbs Up

Although a tad against the rules, I thought I'll share some pictures as well to promote it to any keen walkers on here Wink No Defender on them though...

The coastal watch station is at the very top of the cliff:

A tad naughty?

It's says in his first post that he had to get permission from the national trust to take the 90 there!

Looks a lovely place!! Strong people are harder to kill and generally more useful!

Great pic's JK, I was having a job getting a wide angle from my phone, much further back and I'd have been over the side!
Here's a few pictures of the floods during 2004, you'd never know now...

Lambley, I do recall those sad sights...not from first hand, but have seen the pictures. One is astonished what a great job the local community must have done to bring it back to business as usual.

Thor, I do apologise for breaking the rules Wink

Garalion - I've just had a look at where the Old Parsonage is - the track that we went up is virtually opposite there, it goes up and around the back of the church yard - and the Station Master lives a few doors away!
We normally park next to the Vicarage, or next to the car park on the corner where the football pitch is, but on this occasion we were allowed up due to having to carry some kit to the top. Small world.

Ahhh these photos do make me miss Kernow (not the floods obviously!), I lived on the south coast but all of the coast is beautiful.

I wonder if that Series IIA ever survived?
