I fitted a set to my Td5. Absolutely not worth it, sorry to say. I think the main problem is the standard Td5 setup doesn't move enough air...
It did - eventually - clear a very small area on the side windows - the passenger side being better than the drivers, but not enough to see the wing mirrors. One trick I did find more effective - if you have the Td5 aircon fitted - was to aim the aircon vents at the side windows and on maximum 'blast' setting. I'm another one that wishes I'd hadn't bothered, a lot of money and a lot of work for very little return, I wish I'd gone for a DIY option as I think I could have done better, but you live and learn

I fitted them and thought they were ok - not great, but ok. I do though have a fully variable fan speed, so I'm not stuck with just the standard two fan speeds and I'm not sure how much that plays into it.

Even set on maximum and fully onto the screen vents it was quite a poor airflow. I even tried that anti-fog stuff motorcyclists use on visors and it didn't help much, if at all.

I fitted the Defender Vent kit which is now sold by Britpart so cheaper DA1205-BP than Mudstuff. You really need to use it in combination with a heated windscreen and heated mirrors. Also if your fan is old or not genuine Landcover then you might not get enough air flow. I had just fitted a new fan genuine Airbox complete (ex MOD) spares and the air flow is now strong on full fan. The vent kits now include some foam to close of part of the windscreen vent and encourage more air to side vents. Also the Engine needs to be warmed up so producing heat from the heater.
Not perfect but worth fitting for me. |

I fitted the Mudstuff kit last year. Its "ok", not mind blowing as others have said the td5 blower just doesn't seem to have enough oomph. However, on a long run it provides just enough air flow to keep the passenger side window clear to see the wing mirrors, which is primarily what I needed.
The drivers side being further from the blower gets even less - but at least you clear this with a cloth yourself. |

Epic trail - could you give me more info on the foam ?
Is it put into the vent above the side outlet to offer enough resistance to the flow so that more is encouraged down the sides ? Sounds a decent idea - just needs to be an open enough foam I expect. One thing I can do on mine is shorten the side pipes a little - I made them over long so I wouldn't have any trouble connecting them to the outlet vents, but I think they could be shorter and still do-able. |

Pipes are best as short as possible otherwise they restrict airflow for sure.
The Foam goes in the main vent opening and is about 4cm long. One at each end of the vent. |

anyone fitted the new 2.0 defender vent? Any improvement on the previous incarnation. Need to do something to improve side vents (don't have any at the moment) £133 for a load of plastic seems ridiculous. |

Personally I just coat my window glass inside with anti-fog stuff from Halfrauds. Seems to do the job and only needs topping up every now and then.

Just reading this with interest as i'd thought about the misting on my old Defenders and saw Blue bottles post re; anti fogging stuff and although i've never tried it, and had actually forgotten all about ituntil now I remember ny Nan telling me once about rubbing a little neat washing up liquid on her kitchen window to stop them misting up.
As far as I know it worked ok. Might be worth a no cost try ??? |

So, has anyone fitted the Mud Defendervent 2.0? Is it any better, do the roller top vent make much difference.
