Aerosol paint safety.
Recently doing some painting Autotek acid etch, Simoniz gloss black acrylic base coat and Simoniz clear coat.

Anyway did my grille with that and all fine and always use a 3M 4291 respirator.

I've not long bought this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271658207263?_tr...EBIDX%3AIT
To do an arch spat, however despite doing everything I can such as good ventilation and PPE.
I have a few concerns about safety especially after reading quite significant health risks over 2k or 2 pack paints.
Are these banned?
Obviously it's once in a blue moon that I ever need to do this but still it's concerning.

Anyone got any advice advice on this?

I know it'd be best some will say if your that concerned to take items to a paint shop but being only small bits and pieces I would imagine they wouldn't be that interested or would turn out to be very costly for minor items.
Of course finally I'm not quite sure what quality of painting would be until you've actually got it completed.

Most paints seem to be vague as to what type of paint it is, they do have the legal warnings etc such as flammable and irritant or harmful ect.

As mentioned above I do always use a 3m 4291 paint respirator and gloves and PPE when doing any painting.

Anyone else do much DIY painting and have any views?

Thumbs Up

If you were using 2k every day then you'd want an air fed mask but just the odd bit a couple of times a year then a decent mask and good ventilation will be fine. 2k isn't banned but bigger body shops are going onto water based now. I do a few bits here and there and have always used 2k, just done my grille santorrini Mr. Green

Indeed, I don't do it often at all either.

Good old 2 Pack Bow down None of this water based rubbish...

Perfectly safe if you take a common sense approach, as with everything. I use it all the time, although in a ventilated booth with air fed suit!

Grille looks good Steve, as per the photos you sent over Thumbs Up An engine to TDi for!
