fancy shooting some deer [photography]
Was thinking of going to shoot some deer.
Somewhere with lovely scenery etc and where we could have a bbq afterwards. Thinking of going early and taking the children too.

Hopefully central as I'm Birmingham based and if there happened to be a few tracks to negotiate too all the beginning.

Any suggestions?

Thumbs Up

Did you not have to declare your permission to get your FAC?

Why do you have to shoot something so beautiful? Why not go clay pigeon shooting or something that's already dead?
I find it repulsive that people can get a kick out of shooting anything that's alive, it's vulgar.

I agree that some animals do need culling as there are no natural predators now , and the health of the animal's will suffer if not culled in the end., and how else what numbers be controlled

I dont see the fun in shooting something not moving , ive tried target shooting and found it very boring , ive had hundreds of chances to go stalking but never have or will ever go

Wrong end of the stick

Was thinking of using the new SLR and getting some nice wild life shots.
Hence bringing the children along.......

Any suggestions on where and not whether I should or shouldn't be shooting deer? Wink

I think perhaps saying "photographing" would have been a bit more accurate Laughing

If your ever down South Knole Park in Sevenoaks has them roaming free and if your lucky and nice and quiet you can get really close to them. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

If you are shooting deer with an SLR, there won't be much left. 7.62 makes quite a mess when you hit centre of mass Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter
Plus you need a decent shoulder to take the punch of an SLR. Not a rifle for wimps Rolling with laughter 110 D250 SE HT
