Thanks guys - I've been looking through lists of connectors and not finding the right item. I though I had the right 4-pin square connector with keys at the top and it turned out to be the wrong size.
I'll contact PaulMC and see if he can help. Having only a vague idea of what I need is a key issue here. |

I've replied to Jim's PM.
I thought that the information might also be useful to others - so, I'm posting it here as well. The connector for the "one touch" fog lamps ECU is a strange one. It’s a Sumitomo connector - but, it’s not in their catalogue. It's similar to their HM090 Series connectors - but, slightly larger - ![]() It has a Land Rover/MG-Rover part number of - YPC10002 - but, it's not available as a spare part. ![]() The terminals are also not listed in the Sumitomo catalogue. They are similar to the HM090 (2.3mm) terminals - but, they are 110 (2.8mm) terminals. Land Rover list the terminals to fit this connector as a spare part, part number - YPL10003 http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-YPL10003 But, this has been out of stock for the last 4 years. YPC10002 has been used on a number of Land Rover/MG-Rover vehicles (and is still used on the current Defender). So, if you fancy a trip to the breakers yard - in addition to the fog lamp ECU found on Defenders, Rover 600s, and late-model Rover Minis, the connector is also used as the indicator switch connector on the following vehicles –
Rover 25 MG ZR Rover 45 MG ZS Rover Mini MGF (->2001) MGF (2001->) Rover 100 Rover 200 Rover 400 Discovery 1 Discovery II Freelander 1 So, if you do manage to find a used connector - make sure that you get it with sufficient wire 'tails' to enable you to connect it to your vehicle's harness. I have also found that the 4-way 2.8mm (.110") female housing of this type of connector, will just-about fit the one touch ECU – http://www.polevolt.co.uk/acatalog/info_ML4KIT.html ![]() This type of connector is called all sorts of things – ‘Mini Lock connectors’, ‘Hitachi connectors’, ‘110 connectors’, ‘2.8 connectors’, ‘Motorcycle connectors’, etc… They are all based on the Sumitomo MTW 110 connector series. Anyway, the 4-way female connector will mate with the one touch ECU, it won’t latch, as it doesn’t have the same latching mechanism as the proper connector. However, because the row spacing and terminal pitch is slightly less than the pitch of the tabs on the ECU, the connector fit is tight enough, so that it won’t fall off. . Wow, an amazing and comprehensive reply! Far better that I could have hoped for. At least I've got a few options now for trying to locate this thing. I'll see what I can do and I'll report back with what I find.

Score! Two Rover friends came through with plugs from Discos! Now to carefully un-crimp the terminals and insert the appropriate colored wires! Thanks to all who helped.

Got this working. Scavenged a wire from the second connector and made a 4-terminal one. Soldered it in and I was good to go. I also had to get a switch because the moron previous owner had used a rear wiper switch with the button face swapped. It was even plugged into the rear wiper plug, so needless to say it didn't work. It does now!
