2.4 tdci remap
Hi im sure this has been covered many times on here so sorry for that but ive got a 2.4 and wanting to get it remapped is it going to make any big difference saving up and going for the big intercooler at the same time or what other accompanying mods should i do to get the most out of it. BAS are nearest to me so will be using them do they offer a dual map service so you can have it on or back to standard and what sort of power output should i expect from it? Think she needs it my old 300tdi would eat it for breakfast upto 60mph

Phone BAS. Thumbs Up

You are correct there is loads about remaps on here and it has indeed been covered time and time again. Use the facility sandwiched between 'PMs' and 'Members' above. ^ Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

I installed a popular mainstream intercooler first. IMO bang for buck is limited. Well made and almost a piece or art, but hard to see the bang.
I then installed a BAS remaps and bang for buck is huge. It works in all the right places and turns the old tractor into a modern tractor. Easy to install and service and back up very good. I have not done an exhaust as I found on another vehicle bang for buck was also very limited.
I guess intercoolers and exhaust all add a % to the overall power, but for me at AU$1800 to $2200 it pays for a lot of other things and would be less than 10% to the overall power outcome. My Defender and travels

Another vote for BAS here

The remap will transform the vehicle but should always go with (my opinion):

- Airbox mod
- Opening up RAI mushroom (if fitted)
- evt a decat or a sport cat

(All related info to be found on here somewhere)

My opinion the 2.4 suffers from 2 things; air supply and over-fueling in 6th all resulting in less power and more heat.

Make no mistake, even without the other mods you'll notice a big change after remapping but opening up the airstream transforms it completely.

The intercooler will help keep things cool but without the other mods the power benefit is marginal.

I have ran in "thermal shut down" several times on the hottest days climbing hills before the intercooler and airflow mods.

Thumbs Up

Its worth having the intercooler if you are keeping the car for sure and or working it hard.

For the switching remap whereyou can revert to standard we currently have the MPF interface designedto connect to a Android phone or tablet and used to control the interface.

If you are an Apple person we are only a few weeks away from a different tool that will work on the Iphone or Ipad allowing switching on and off of the remap as well as diagnostic features and functions.

Pete, having the map already, and being an Apple user, what's the costing or process to get that fancy software into my iPad. Seems whole lot easier for an unfortunate remote ordeal I hope I never have. My Defender and travels

It's for cars with no 10as or immo problems on off road cars.

Ok

Their will be some way to move over to the new tool hardware but you will need to return the car to standard with first the current BAS unit, erase it and then we will start again with the new hardware.

You can then sell on the erased BAS interface to recover some of the cost of the new unit, all is doable without to much trouble.
