Trailer Light
Can anyone help.
On my 62 plate Defender 90 XS I've noticed that the trailer light on the instrument panel flashes when the indicators are operated. It flashes once on the first flash of the indicator then goes out. It also flashes once when the hazards are switched on.
I haven't done anything to the vehicle recently, the indicators appear to be working fine and I have never had a trailer socket fitted to the vehicle.

It's supposed to do that, so don't worry about it!

That's correct.

It should have always done that.

Thanks chaps. Think I need a trip to the opticians next. Had the Defender for 18 months and never noticed it before.

As said before it's normal. Mine has done it from new, it's a side effect of the basic electronics. I believe the system detects when there is a lower impedance connected, ie extra trailer lights. When normal incandescent bulb filaments are cold they take a switch on surge hence triggering the trailer warning. It then goes out when the bulb is on and its power consumption has dropped.
