100% agreed!
I am British, over 30 years in the UK but also call Australia 'home' as I grew up there and have now moved back for 3-5 years. Yes, brilliant weather (Sydney has a wonderful climate unlike Melbourne LOL!), great scenery as does much of OZ. But its a bloody rat race now, rules everywhere, especially road rules! Cops here are totally crazy. They and speed cameras are everywhere... it's relentless. There is a massive 'speed kills' mentality... you get fined for doing 2-3mph over the limit... and at 'illegal' (normal! ) UK Motorway speeds of 85-90mph, you will probably get a jail sentence... seriously! Random breath test everywhere, double demerit points on Bank Holidays, the place is SO rule bound... as are the Ozzies! And the driving standards and abilities are probably the worst I have experienced anywhere in the world!!! It is the Capital of Tailgaters!!! I have spent my life in the UK with fast cars. But in OZ, not a hope and totally pointless. So the Defender is perfect as it largely avoids all of the above! And getting off road is pretty special here! Pete YOLO... You Only Live Once... |

That's why you have all the rules and cameras. |

as much as i agree with the above comments, i would still prefer australia then any where else, the only parts i dont like are as above, to many stupid road rules, not enough teaching people how to drive.
anyways, back to my Defender, went to Wombat State forest, bout an Hour North West of Melbourne couple photos of my Dirtyish Defender.
