Bye bye pillar jack
Models LD - Defender Title Defender Bottle Jack Introduction Last Modified 11-SEP-2008 12:19 Category Chassis Symptom 307000 Jack/Tool & Spare Content Issue: Introduction of Bottle Jack for all Defender variants. Cause: The method of stowage for the Pillar type Jack along the bulkhead tended to produce a rattle type noise over irregular road surfaces. The introduction of the Bottle Jack and 3 piece handle allows storage of the all the Jacking components under the Left Hand Seat for an improved stowage installation. Action: No action required. This is a notification of change of supplied condition from vin. 9A768482. Mine doesn't rattle too much inside
Well I must confess that I have other "rattles" much more loud inside the car (4 kids ). Regards Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" Click image to enlarge Last edited by Eduardo on 6th Oct 2008 12:57pm. Edited 1 time in total |

It's not the rattling that does me it's the shape of it ! Position Its stored and overall anoying combo with the base plate!
I am speaking from a lazy point of view as I have always had a bottle jack on my things to do list but never got round to it ! I suppose if I'm gonna have one dropped in the battery box next time I go past the dealers then that's fine with me ! DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN |

Is it me - i like the pillar jack.
So let me get this right - the dealers are offering this to any defender owner? i read it as only those who buy new ones. Mike |

As I understand is just for the new ones.
But may be if you said that you cannot bear the rattle, may be they will change it. Regards Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" Click image to enlarge |

My 2007 was fitted with a bottle jack. Though it has to be said I don't have a problem with the old sort aas they have served me well over many years in my other defenders.

My Dual Battery is under the left seat next to the normal batery. So I would not want the pillar jack there. I would not have room for two batteries under the left seat then.
