AFAIK youl'have to remove every single pipe and cable that runs over the rocker cover then remove the injectors so therefore you must change the retaining stretch bolts and the injector sealing washers and all this just to change the rocker cover seals
And i was complaining about the Td5' unit injectors that were "burried" inside the rocker cover |

the rocker/cam cover gasket doesn't seal round the injector , no need to touch cover bolts pipes etc
each injector has its own sealing ring , remove pipe and wiring to that injector and one next to it ( clamp holds two injectors so you need to do both ) and pick out sealing rings round the 2 injectors , seals should pull out with injector pull out injectors normally come out easy , need to fit new copper washers to injectors and clean injector seat and fit new sealing rings and clamp bolt 20min job if you done them before , bit longer if you have not , just keep everything clean and cap removed pipe fittings etc |

Thanks chaps, Munch are you saying that you think it is an injector seal rather than rocker cover? Is it something I can live with?

hard to say really , but you have to remove injector so you would need to do injector seals anyway
cover gasket is only round the outside of cover , it doesn't go round injectors seals are bit like this eBay item number: eBay Item No. 251292571580 you would need to check type of seal ( just picked first ones I come to , to give you a idea) |

If the seal is letting go then it's not something you want to live with. I've just had the seals replaced on my 2.4, 2 out of the 4 were leaking. The symptoms were heavy breathing when the oil filler cap was removed, the excess pressure eventually led to an oil leak. Changed the seals, rocker cover pressure now OK, oil leak gone. I was advised to go back after a couple of weeks to have them checked to ensure still tight |

Sorry, I'll try not to ask any more after this but the edge of the rocker cover is very close to the injector and my suspicion is that a little bit of engine oil has seeped down into the recess. One of you seems to be saying I need to remove the injectors and pipes etc just to change the rocker gasket but I'm unclear. If I do I think I will leave alone and check it periodically. If I can easily change rocker gasket, I will do it.

if you want to change rocker cover gasket then yes all pipes , injectors need to come out
if you want to change oil seal round injector then just the 2 injectors need to come out , leave others and cover in place the cover goes right from one side to the other in one piece like this roughly eBay item number: eBay Item No. 291365320789 Last edited by munch90 on 20th Mar 2015 12:36pm. I would do it sooner than later as you are blowing carbon in to oil system which could block the oil pick up pipe. it also damages the leaking injector making it very difficult to remove. have seen it several times on transits.

also check the copper washer (item 14) LR004662 especially if the engine "eat" oil

Like said may as well do them , not hard job
keep dirt out of pipes clean wire brush where copper washer sits on injector only thing that you may have to do is clean injector seats in the head if a copper washer has been blowing buy/borrow injector seat cleaner , something like this eBay Item No. 130648670180 |

I thought I might nip the clamp bolt up a bit but can't even figure how to i clip the plug from the injector and didn't want to damage anything so I'm still ignoring it at mo.
