I've done this today, all went well using the same method as above.
Just being careful and not letting go of it or being careless and it all went well.

Even managed to glue a about 2mm x 5mm piece of thin rubber into the gap that the hinge slides into the shim so should keep it more still too so won't cause as much wear.
The old ones were worn but not shockingly but enough to bang and move about..

It was highly annoying that's for sure. Whistle
