Apparently it does indeed, let's not split hairs any longer....Why not try to remove it and retain the DPF or show everyone how this can be achieved on a 2.2!

not sure about cat needed for regen temps as on a sprinter ( early one ) , the cat is 2ft behind the dpf , later one is one unit

I agree my terminology and/or explanation was not perhaps as clear as it should/could have been, but the title of the thread was and the fact it was a 2.4.......For that please accept my apologies....
Defender..... 2.4 Catalytic Convertor only (first section from the manifold)......Fairly easily removable in one complete section by removing front propshaft and crossmember (if you wish to remove it complete) or, just chop it out. 2.2 Combined DPF/Catalytic Convertor in your downpipe (first section from the manifold) but called just a DPF in Land Rover circles......Not an option at this stage but perhaps if you can find someone clever enough to reprogramme your ECU or find a replacement export ECU where the Defender does not have a combined DPF/Catalytic convertor as standard you may perhaps, possibly be able to remove it. Err no just wrong. Why wriggle, just call a spade a spade and move on...a 2.2 does have a cat and you said "2.2s obviously don't have cats".
Maybe mislabelling this part as just a dpf when in fact it isn't is where the mistake came from? |

yes - on a 2.2 puma land rover the cat is used to raise the active regen temps - sprinter who knows... |

Sorry I was wrong and hope my apology makes you feel better......
I know......for the sake of peace and harmony let's call it a 2.2 CAT! It is however still not removable for the purpose of this thread on a 2.2 whatever it's labelled as, and whatever it's functionality. If anyone was going to come up with a solution my money would have been on Pete Bell...........
Wonder how they compare before and after? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |
