Regularly pressure wash mine off as its a working truck, just don't get to close

+2, personally seen several ex LRE vehicles with the chassis packed solid internally with mud and loads of underside damage - both Defenders, Discoveries and RR's - I walked away - the British Army has vehicles in cleaner condition underneath - excluding the NATO green paint!

I always jet wash (every car i've had) underneath regularly,hgv,s are often jet washed underneath for the mot,excess dirt can be an mot failure, vosa can order you to clean the underside,good luck with that if your only using a hosepipe.
Plenty of companies out there who will jetwash your truck to pre-mot standards,let them do it if your not confident with a jetwash.Moisture retaining dirt causes rot not water on it's own,salt makes it 10 times worse. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5. |

Don't they have to turn their fleet over every 6 months or so? I certainly remember one instructor telling me they were never serviced - they got rid of them long before that. So any issues they are making, they will never really see. |

So which is then every year or every six months or longer And do they then sell them on as EX Demonstrators Personally I have no issue with power washing the underneath providing you do not go mad with it. I would rather have a little bit of water seepage that will dry out the next time I drive it, than thick clinging damp mud and compacted wet grit slowly rotting the metal. I have been power washing both my Defenders since new and both their chassis and axles still look good with virtually no rust showing at all, either inside the rails or out. I have also cured the leaks with seals etc. So power washing the body is not a problem with water ingress for me. The vehicle is designed for wading and extreme conditions if people who own them are worried about a little bit of spray water damaging them they are not paying attention to preventative maintenance.
