K9F these two paragraphs taken from that article is the best bit of news I have read about the Defender for a while.
It confirmed that it will create a new version of the 4x4 and also said the existing model will continue to roll off the production line. Commenting on the future of the existing model, the spokesman added: 'We are investigating the possibility of maintaining production of the current Defender at an overseas production facility for sale outside of the EU, after we cease building in the UK.' It will mean if they do we will still see the Defender we know and love being used and in news shots albeit not in EU though. Good news at least for non UK members.
Regretably a law that not allow to import cars without airbag from 2016 ahead has been passed this month. So, cannot be available here also Well my only hope is that the new Defender will be in the same line that the old one (I hope) Cheers! I stopped reading when I got to the bit where it said "As the British newspaper Daily Mail reported"
This is wrong on so many levels!! Firstly the daily mail is not a newspaper - more akin to viz or dailymash, etc. Secondly the DM tries to imply that the new model will not be build in the UK, before going on to quote a JLR spokesperson as saying "We will create a new version of the Defender but no decision has been made on where it will be built or when." |
