New Defender - security and rustproofing?
I'll be picking up my first Defender next week and would welcome some advice on things I should do immediately to improve security.

I'll be getting a steering lock and will get a tracker fitted, but from browsing the forum it sounds as though there is something that can be done to improve the factory fitted alarm system - what needs to be done and could the dealer do this for me? If not, any recommendations for garages in the York/Leeds area?

Similarly, any tracker recommendations?

Finally, any recommendations for somewhere to get Dinitrol treatment in the Leeds/York area?

Scrap the OEM alarm and fit a proper after market Thatcham approved one with immobiliser, such as a Cobra or Clifford. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Audioimages in Bradford are great for fitting trackers/tweaking alarms, they fit for a lot of top end companies but you can go direct and get a sensible price. As for rustproofing we have had the last new vehicles done by four plus four in Leeds. New vehicles tend to get collected, driven to Audioimages to have security sorted and then collected and driven to Leeds for waxoyling. I also seem to remember that Matthew at Mks in Leeds will do waxoyling on a new/clean vehicle but hasn't got the facilities to clean them first. If that is the case he will probably be v reasonable as he runs a small company and is not vat registered, he is also a damn good mechanic if you need any mods done. Skytags are free if you insure with Heritage Insurance here

NFU gives discount if you have Tracker Locate fitted about 10%

The Tracker system is supported by all UK police forces and majority of ports etc.
