Puma Defender Instrument Panel LED Repair
Hi Folks

Any one out there ever had to replace blown surface mount LEDs within the Puma instrument panel?

I've had the blue bright light indicator not working for a while now and have traced the fault to the instrument cluster - all lights are working normally just the bright light dash indicator is not working. The wire going into the cluster plug is seeing 12V when brights are selected so I am assuming the LED is dead.

If anyone has done a repair, please will you advise on some tips on how to remove the instrument needles so that the PC board can be accessed on the inside face and where to purchase a replacement surface mount LED.

All suggestions welcome.

Thanks

It may not be the LED, it could well be the driver, or just about any other component in the comuterised IPAC.

Replacing SMT devices is not trivial and, unless you have experience, I strongly suggest that you only try it if you have a spare IPAC on hand (or at least know where you can get one quickly).
