Caterham is our champion of fuel economy on here....
Read this entire thread,...... if you have the courage http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic3972.html You never actually own a Defender. I average 360 miles to a tank with a blend of driving styles and roads. I'm happy when I get 380 and in disbelief when i see theb400. Which I could probably count if I think about it

I wouldn't have thought that would make a huge amount of difference. Comparing a 265/65/18 to a 235/85/16 you've got a very similar diameter so the gearing will be the same, the only disadvantage is the extra width. I would guess the weight was fairly similar too. |

I don't get how a modern 2.2l engine is less efficient than my 2.5l
My average is 33.38 at the moment and its not like I don't use it. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

Sorry almost missed my que.
Without going back and checking I seem to recall 611 miles on a tank gave 37mpg. Remember 110 has a bigger tank / longer range. How things change tho. Following remap and things generally running much better my driving style has gone downhill along with my economy....only 400.3 miles today and the orange light came on. That said I hope to get a nice slow long drive in soon and hopefully things will be back up where they should be Ps. Your truck looks beautiful...why size tyres you running? |

75 miles today = 1/4 of a tank in my Td5. Assuming a tank does 300 miles. It's doing about 22.8 to the gallon. Not that I care, just keep topping it up! Pleased my daily does over 50 mpg mind 2001 Td5 CSW (weekend and snow mobile) Plenty of lights, M/T tyres EGR delete, roofrack, swing away wheel carrier, snorkel.

After admittedly spending a few bob on mods, my 2.4 tdci 110' is averaging just a shade under 33mpg. A Modern-Day Explorer Twitter: @ModernDayXplore

Just filled her up again. Fuel economy was 27.5, which again I consider to be very good when I think that it's only really been driven around locally, so lot's of stop start town driving and in most cases it's never got up to full operating temperature. Filled it up at Texaco, where I was very surprised to find that our local one sells their Supreme Diesel. Only 1 of 4 Texaco's in Wiltshire that sells it. 2015 Audi Q3 Quattro S Line Plus 184 TDI Stronic

Dont know how you manage to get such good figure
Over the last 4,000 miles (done in 7 weeks) I managed - worst 21.4 - best 24.4 - average 23 (yes I am sad/OCD all my fuel is logged for work purposes) But hen it is better than my Mk4 Hilux which is lifted and runs on BFG Muds and has averaged 21.5mpg over 60000 miles and is worse than my 3.2 V6 audi which has averaged 25mpg Defender is def not bought for its fuel economy |

Nearly 3 weeks in, 900 miles, 50% B roads (having fun!), 25% Dual carriageway, 25% town. Average 29.9mpg, which amazed me, it included an hour stuck in a 4 mile traffic jam.
Think it may be std steels and road oriented tyres, providing a lower rolling resistance? Should hopefully improve as the engine loosens up. Very pleased and it shifts, better than I expected. |
