Hey all!
Also in the planning stages of going over the Pyrenees. Looking at August and going from the Atlantic to the Med. I have loads of questions, where are you guys doing your research? Some other forum or? For route I have been looking at wikiloc but it's hard going, many many routes but what's good?! At the moment I'm a one man band trying to rally mates to come with (not going too well). So I'm looking at both difficult routes for a group and maybe a backup, easy route if I end up going alone. |

This is looking like a very popular Holiday this year
I am also considering a trip to the pyrennes in late july, early august. (we did the Alpes Maritime last year on our own and wild camped) like most, we will be driving down to the Med, and then transversing the Pyrennes mostly on the Spanish side and Wild camping as we go. Does anyone have any experenice of camping wild on the spanish side, any problems, any no-no's. cheers Barry |

this does indeed seem popular on here right now. we are also booked on the ferry (late June) and now in detailed route planning mode. for those who haven't picked dates yet and have flexibility advice to me from some Spanish friends was to avoid late July and all of August as the school holidays add hugely to numbers in the area.
have fun everyone |

s Last year being our first trip I plotted campsites along our route so that we had choices at the end of each day. However I used a great iPhone app called " you camp ES" . Using the GPS on the phone it locks onto your position and show the location of all the campsites around. Also it gives you a comprehensive list of facilities at each. Wild camping is allowed in the pyrenees S long as you are not in the national park or on private land. A big NO NO would be open fires due to forest fire risk. Last year we did only one wild camp but at 5500 feet it was a fantastic night with amazing views albeit a very cold one. Click image to enlarge All our tents were froze stiff in the morning |

We went last week in May and it was idilic as tracks were deserted. Some days we would drive all day and not see another car. As I have previously said the only issue could be on the higher routes with snow blocking them. Last edited by amondeggs on 18th Mar 2015 9:54pm. Edited 1 time in total |

I'm very jealous. I am trying to hold off all my work commitments and still get going at the end of August.
I'd be very interested in hearing from you guys on your return! Have an amazing trip - i'm sure it will be spectacular |
