Looking For Insurance
Hi,

Looking for insurance for myself on a 2007 Defender 110 Double Cab,

Previously been insured on my dad's policy as a named driver, but may well be taking on the car myself,

I'm 21 so I've been getting quotes around the £1100 mark.

Is this in line with what would be expected, and is it just another factor of defender ownership? Rolling Eyes

Look forwards to a reply.

Try A-Plan they are absolutely fantastic I believe and they are a forum sponsor too. You could also try Adrian Flux, NFU or do a search on the forum.

Try NFU..

not the very cheapest..but a really good policy starting with £0 XS if you wish.

Really good for new cars with 2 years return to Invoice cover.

Cheap terms over 12mnths too..very liitle extra to spread the cost.

One other thing..non performance mods can be included and no admin costs for mid term changes to policy.

Wins all round for me

Clemmo Make today a little better than yesterday but not so good as tomorrow....

BMW X3 Msport............Carbon Black

At 21, and a declared " Je Engineered" would say that not too bad

Try http://www.heritagecarinsurance.co.uk/modi...insurance/

Have no idea if any good ? But they are getting into specialist insurance etc,, modified landrover and challenge trucks etc
They have just sponsored one of the section we had on the Welsh Extrem , California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

Try aviva............I've heard bad reports about a plan and a flux! its not about the quote as they are very competitive .................its the claim thingy that lets them down!

I'd say £1100 was fair for the age.

I wasn't paying much less than that when I got it.

Remember you might not earn any no claims with being a named driver unless you stay with the same company - I found this to my dismay after years of driving a crappy ecobox thinking I was gathering up years of NCB only to be told sorry sir we can't insure you in a defender plus your no claims are non transferable! Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

I called NFU and got quoted over £500 and I'm a lot older than 21 Whistle

Plus they would only give 1 year on the return to Invoice cover - not sure if this is due to it being an CSW?

Could get a lot cheaper elsewhere
