Insurance quotes?
Hi all,

I wondered if anyone had any insurance recommendations... I usually just Go Compare... but as this is a '3rd vehicle'... I am now starting again without a NCB. Sad

I am used to having insurance premiums below £300... This one is now coming out at £600 +

Has anyone got any recommendations for decent Defender insurance?

Edward

Try A-Plan they are absolutely fantastic I believe and they are a forum sponsor too. You could also try Adrian Flux, NFU or do a search on the forum.

I've just had to insure 2 Vehicles together for the first time and after someone recommend them I went with Admiral Multi-Car policy. For around £540 which includes some extras added to the policy, I've insured two Defenders one brand new and one old one, fully comp, business use!

I can second A-Plan, great service, another vote for Claire understood the car and went from £499 with present insurer to £266 last week.

Very happy chap

I had the same hassle last year, either companies didn't want my business or the quotes were ridiculous.
(Previously with Swift cover at a reasonable cost, then they said they couldn't continue???)
Apparently due to having only 1years NCB, as I'd recently been on my wifes policy as the second driver.
I ride a 1000cc motorcycle, have full NCB but 'this doesn't count'.
In the end I settled for BeWiser who insured me for about £460 which was far lower than the others.
(Bearing in mind they all use the same insurance companies, things don't quite make sense)
They took into account the fact that I was on my wifes policy which has 7 years NCB.
I'm hoping for a better quote this time round.
I'm no spring chicken either at 58 years old, been driving for 41 years and have only had one 'no fault' accident
in a car.
You could try Lancaster insurance though.

Try NFU..

not the very cheapest..but a really good policy starting with £0 XS if you wish.

Really good for new cars with 2 years return to Invoice cover.

Cheap terms over 12mnths too..very liitle extra to spread the cost.

One other thing..non performance mods can be included and no admin costs for mid term changes to policy.

Wins all round for me

Clemmo Make today a little better than yesterday but not so good as tomorrow....
Defender 90 HT............Pangea Green
BMW X3 Msport............Carbon Black
Mini Electric................Grey. (wow!)
MGB Roadster……..........Vermillion 17k miles
Honda Benly CD200....Maroon --------McLouis Fusio........7.4m of fun

Another thing mentioned by A Plan I have never heard of, for £40 the will guarantee 25% over the payout in the event of loss.
So if car is valued at £20k you will get £25k.

Thanks all... I will definitely look at A plan next time...

My current insurer - esure - said they would match the NCB I held on the other car and give me 10% discount - so it was about £260 in the end - 43 year old male, 1 named driver, Berkshire. I think that was a fair quote.
