I was thinking of getting a set - not just for the looks but the 'placebo' effect seems to be strong within and as such I'm sure I'd also get increased braking and reduce my stopping distances

I am sure the heat would be dissipated in the form of flames as the plastic melts and catches fire, which would bring you to a sharp stop just like real Bembro products.
