That's what I have, Alive stage one, EGR fully disabled and solid blank fitted.
Job done, not cheap but it will be a one off unlike the EGR.

Plus it's never run better, cleaner more powerful and less fuel used.
It really does shift!

The EGR shut down in its self will help a lot of things across the board. MPG, idle and engine running smoothness and quality.
Power delivery etc.
That's before you get the actual tune it's self.
A stage one tune is around 155HP.

Great Smile it's not about all out power for me, just a nice delivery and generally as 'happy' an engine as possible Thumbs Up

I bought myself a blank which came today, is it worth fitting that too? If so should it be done by Chris before he remaps it? Cheers, David

My opinion which is shared by those in the know would be fit it....

It's the only way to be 100% that nothing is getting by and is the engine / calibration is set so as not to expect any exhaust gases or by product of the egr passing then it's the only way of making sure all is within expected parameters.

Also if you're having your engine re mapped I presume this would be a complete new file.....if that's the case does the ecm receive generic information which then needs to be 'tailored ' to suit the injectors and pump ie a injector and pump learn needs to be undertaken or is it possible to do a remap which somehow leaves the injector and pump information in place and kind of works round it???

It's a complete new file.
And yes, get Chris to fit the blank at the time it's tuned.
The two really need to be done at the same time.

So presumably any of the bolt on boxes or remote tunes will need to go through the pilot learn process for best results?

Which kind of backs up what has been said before about the tune boxes not being the best option?

That'd be a question a tuner would be best placed to answer rather than myself.

However, I'd never personally have one of those tuning box things.

So an update-

Went to see Chris & get the Alive remap with EGR delete yesterday. Couldn't be happier! Light off, ticks over better etc.

And then the Alive map really is a step up, not necessarily more powerful as I asked for a 'middle of the road' type map, but just smoother and torquier through the whole range. Beautiful! How it should've come out of the showroom.

Limited removed is nice too, and the EGR is also physically blanked so as to be extra safe.

Thanks again to Chris and Gary!! Cheers, David
