No experience towing a caravan with a 110 but we and our predecessors towed a 21ft Exhibition Unit and used 30 front and 40 rear. The 110 was winch equipped hence slightly higher than the factory 28 at the front. Rear had no anti roll bar for Off Road training and the tyres were 265/75x16 BFG MTs.
It towed really well with that spec and good off road too. Just our impressions, others may disagree..... |

Should have said, the trailer was around 2.25 tonnes and a 4 wheeler.

The recommended pressures for towing are 30 psi front and 65 psi rear. I use these when towing a large twin axle caravan. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to  us off.

Thank you for the advice!
I've been running around with 30 front and 34 rear as it's often lightly loaded and it prevents the kids from bouncing about too much. Will see how we get on with the new 'van this weekend. |

As a matter of interest, what are people running Defender 110's at, unloaded pressures please?

Normal running 30 P.S.I. front and 38 P.S.I. rear Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off.

I've recently gone through getting my pressures right for towing our cross over(single axle) van.
BFG KM2's on all wheels and running 50kKg to spare on each axle so 4050Kg(@ 9000Lb) GCVM. On highway...... Front....44PSI Rear.....56PSI TVan....40PSI With no van on I could drop the rears to @50PSI(yet to work out with the method below) but usually don't. Off road.... Front...26PSi Rear....34PSI TVan...26PSI Play time with no van is @20F/26R. This was set using the 2->4PSi rule from cold. Set tyre pressures when cold. Drive for 1 hour and recheck each tyre as quick as possible. An increase of under 2->4PSI is a sign the pressure is to high. An increase of 2->4PSI is correct. An increase of over 2->4PSI is under inflated. (I've seen 10PSI increase going from slow tracks to high speed highway). On the odd occasion I drive home on the black top for @50Km(30Mile) with off road pressures because I'm to lazy to reinflate the tyres. I have noticed up to 2 inch's from the tread face showing signs of rubbing due to side wall flex when I do this. Cheers, Kyle. |

i run 45 rear, 30 front all the time

What would you recommend for a single axle caravan, approx 1300kg being pulled by a defender 90 please? 300tdi 90 1996.

this is interesting, with most caravan tow hitches being 100kg nose weight max this is like having a fat bloke in the back, I have never adjusted my pressures so would be interested to know if I should be.
I would also be interested to know what pressures people use when using 18 inch wheels with 265 tyres on a pretty standard weight XS 90 when not towing. I am running 38 front and rear at the moment and have no noticeable issues DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS, I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |
