Hi Guys,
Been thinking about it and have wandered, can I stretch my 110 into a 130? Obviously the mechanicals are very straight forward, new 130 galv chassis, longer brake lines, longer prop shaft, and then ether a double cab body and a 130 tub or a foley 130 station wagon conversion. The paperwork side of it however would be horrendous! Or would it? What do we think? Problem is, there are very very very very few 200Tdi's in good condition and of those that are in good condition hardly any are standard 130s and none of them are for sale. Or blue. Early 130s or 127s as they were at the time were made by cutting a standard 110 chassis and inserting the extra 17 inches, later on 130 chassis were made as aseperate chassis in their own right.
So I guess you cut cut your chassis in two and insert the relevant extension piece. Not for the faint hearted though ! Or the faint of wallet either ! 2005 Td5 90 XS Steve |

Would the paperwork be an issue ? I used to own an ex MOD S2a that was shortened and had a trayback on it, log book stated as 2 axle rigid body truck so nothing had changed ! 2005 Td5 90 XS

True but going from a 110 county station wagon to a 130 double cab pickup may just be beyond the comprehension of the DVLA.
Plus I started looking into it and by the time I have bought a new galv chassis (why not?) and rear tub and truck cab it was more than a nice ex-utilitys 130 which is what I want anyway! Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

Haha No I couldn't bear part with her unless I was offered well, well over the odds for her and even then I'm not sure I could. So any addition would be an addition.
Must admit it is taking unbelievable amounts of willpower to not order a final year 130, but I really do need to get my life together first and be sensible and get a deposit sorted for a house and all that responsible adult stuff. Or, say sod it move to Australia and then live driving road trains in the week and land rovers at the weekend! But yes ex-utilitys vehicles are in my eyes the best modified defenders you can buy, especially when you consider how comparatively cheep they are for the amount of kit you get. DVLA rules state that you can replace a chassis with a brand new identical replacement and retain the vehicle's original identity.
You might find that a change from a 110 to a 130 might go against thier interpretation of identical replacement, and thus incur a Q plate. My blog - www.anacreinhampshire.blogspot.co.uk 110 TD5 BuildHERE - sold! 110 Tdci Build HERE - sold! Passat Alltrack - 4x4, auto, 45mpg, gloriously comfortable - but not a Defender! |
