LED Rear pack without lamp guards vs traditional with?
Any thoughts which way to go based on practicals or cosmetics? Front guards ordered for 110. Rear guards incompatible with LEDs. Revert back to rear traditional lighting with guards or just stick with the LR LED pack? Grateful for your kind input.

Personally I love the look of the SVX rear LED pack and have them in my 90.

I think the standard rest light guards cause more damage, if hit, to the body work than would be suffered if they weren't there in the first place.

i agree with the above.

Seen a couple of defenders where lamp guards turned a broken light unit to a collapsed rear corner.

Also they quickly end up rusty and get electrolytic corrosion around the drill hole.

And they mean you can't have a decent sized spare, etc etc....

i fancy some LED rears but don't like the bolt on bits type, really like the SVX ones. On my list Thumbs Up Cheers, David

I agree, replacement standard lamps are so cheap I wouldn't bother protecting them, better a broken lense than a bent wing Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I agree.

I have Wolf Style guards on the front but nothing on the back as the rear is so much more susceptible to damage due to the lack of bumpers! A plastic lens costs pennies whereas a new tub is much more expensive.

That said, I would always fit them to the front. Mine have had some serious knocks in her life from stones or falling debris while driving or working and they have always protected my lights from damage. They are also quite handy for hanging things off while working like gloves or chainsaw chains or hooks and chains. Plus they do act as another layer of defence against theft on later models! Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

+ 1 for SVX LEDs - but use security screws - some cases of them being removed

If you go with standard ones, Personally I would not bother with guards they can cost most than a couple of quid for a lense
