underbonnet sound insulation (300tdi) | |
I took off the dense thick engine top cover off my 300 tdi a while back, can't remember what for, but forgot to replace it. At the weekend I took off the underslung bonnet insulation, as i fitted a ex-military style bonnet spare wheel mount with the support rubbers, and didn't put the felt back there either. Didn't really notice much difference tbh. But today, as there was a strange yellow object in the sky, I opened my flaps when I went out. WHAT a DIN!!!!!, incredibly loud, so when I got back, I opened the bonnet, and refitted both items again. Then went out again, still with the flaps open, and the difference was amazing, it was as if the flaps were closed!.. just goes to show, it actually works very well indeed.
