I was curious about this item from a few threads on the forum. A couple of Stella's later, hit the purchase button ...
I've read the thread about splitting the fuse box to enable it to pass through the grommet on the seatbox. However I cant seem to learn the knack. Any tips. What is the best run for the blue feed cable to the seatbox, and should I slip some plastic conduit over it? Any other tips Cheers Alan Click image to enlarge |

I done exactly like you said, run it in some conduit and along the top of the chassis, bit of a faff but well worth it 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"
Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

Headlight upgrade loom
to give full voltage to headlights ( and improve brightness ) and protect the weak headlight switch |

I guess this boomslang loom is very similar to the Landreiziger loom also well discussed here. In which case there is no need at all to take the live feed from the battery. You can just take it from the alternator which has also a permanent live. That is what my dealer did, much easier. It is well commented in a "Landreiziger" thread on here.

Hi Alan, I've posted how I did my own setup here: http://www.defender2.net/forum/post395594.html#395594 Long story short, I purchased 2 meters of 10mm convoluted sleeve to protect the wire. The benefit of connecting the live feed to the battery is to keep the fuse inside the car and not in the engine bay. Cheers, O. |

to split the fuse holder, take the fuse out, look under the holder where the wires go in and you should see a little slot on one side. Wiggle a screwdriver in there whilst gently putting the wire out and it will release the locking tab that keeps the female spade in the holder. I didn't bother protecting my cable. That may come back to bite me but I just ran it along the chassis and tucked it in to all the cable ties where my winch cabling goes.

i bought this same kit for £7 inc postage from China! looks exactly the same including the relays and one is a 5 pin too as per the other thread on here. Cheers

I made a little bracket with clip, and mounted this to a bolt fixing for the washer bottle. Mine was on the nearside wing.
Ran the loom section for the offside down and through a hole in the radiator bay. Used a section of 20mm electrical plastic conduit to protect the loom through the hole. Passed the loom for the offside headlight and passed it through a similar hole. As o4dn had factored, was if you pull the yellow cover back the connector will just pass through. Then gently sqeeze the cover through and reinstate. Question. How have others routed the main feed cable from the headlight postion to the seatbox? Cheers Alan |
