Surely they can't do much wrong. Is it just a plain screen, it could be cheaper to buy and fit yourself if your excess is £75 2015 RRS Autobiography SDV6

A lot depends on the fitter, had one replaced in Bristol and it leaked like a sieve where he used the wrong sealant. Had it re-fitted by another Autoglass technician up here in Scotland who happened to be a LR enthusiast and absolutely perfect. 2007 (57) Defender 90 (Sold)
Looking for another to replace it. The road less travelled.... is a muddy one! |

It's a heated one. And the people last time didn't seal it which caused major water leaks and corrosion inside on the bulkhead and the bloody dash had to come out. So I'm paranoid about getting it sealed. Damn planet is short of Kryptonite !

What's with all this sealant people are using. I've fitted hundreds of windscreens and none of them have leaked nor have I ever used sealant. Only ever some hand soap to ease it into place. For me I've seen companies like autoglass smash a few screens. On the plus side the subsequent attempts were coated to then due to their fault. Don't forget fitting screens on this manner is now obsolete so its a skill that's fading fast among the new age.
All their work is guaranteed and if you have trouble with it then simply call them and they'll fix it |

I had my heated screen changed last year by Autoglass, he did a good job and also inspected it for any corrosion.

The first fitter did use a new seal but sealed it with the wrong type of sealant that over time went hard and cracked allowing water through. The second fitter also used a new seal but used a flexible sealant that would "flex" and not set hard and that has worked well 2007 (57) Defender 90 (Sold) Looking for another to replace it. Autoglass...
You have no worries whatsoever, also get the seal off and the area thoroughly cleaned. I had two replaced in short succession by Autoglass and it is an ideal time to get the crud cleaned out under the seal and get it sealed correctly. My advice would be to be in attendance and read carefully the issue of dirt ingress in the thread below, especially my posts and Fekete's on pages 1 and 2.... http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic2126.html Whilst VGS are very good if you don't live near them they're no use to you, nevertheless they do have a list of authorised fitters for their products who are also good at what they do. Why would you put sealer on the windscreen ? The Land Rover 90 - Many are called, few are chosen.

To prevent dirt and grime build up and the associated dampness and water creep that collects inside the cab. Read the link above. Cured mine and others water in the footwells.
