Pickles,
The heritage might not have air con to help demist the windscreen but it does have a heated front screen which does the job just as well. |

Hi Vintagepaul,
Just what we need here in Perth on a 40 C day - a heated windscreen Still can't believe we won't get A/C in Australia, my wife will probably do something nasty to me if it has no aircon. She complains enough about the aircon in the TD5 Defender, which does a great job of freezing the knees, but not a lot else, and at least that has opening bulkhead vents! |

I think it is a case of horses for courses, in australia with your climate I can see that air con would be essential but in the winter in the UK when it rarely gets up to 40c a heated screen is very useful! |

I agree with you Pickles, we will get A/C, and also with Vintagepaul on the need for windscreen heating in the UK. When I lived in Derbyshire I had a Lotus Super Seven (1969) with no heater, hood anything, and that needed windscreen wipers on the inside. By the way just love Rye & spent a few days there back in 2008, & in what seems like a previous childhood spent a lot of time on the Romney, Hythe, Dymchurch railway!

Hi Avion8,
By coincidence I have a caterham 7 at the moment (which will have to be sold to help pay for the heritage) which has a heated screen which is excellent as the 7 doesn't have any other way of clearing the screen. I had a 7 in the 1980's as well which did not have a heated screen and after lots of experimentation I found the best way of keeping the screen clear was with an unused tampon!! I always wondered why people gave me odd looks when they saw me carrying one..... Rye is a great place to live, if you are ever over in this part of the world again let me know and I'll take you on a tour of the local highlights. (mainly pubs!) |

Hi all,
Another newby on here! Looks like a great forum! I am in OZ and have a MY14 110, with a/c!!! Yes, it would be mad to think they would send a limited edition here without. Love my truck, first one I have owned despite learning to drive on a farm in and old series 1 many years ago! I was back in the UK early January and in a moment of madness with a rush of blood, I happened to call into my local stealer on the day the Celebration series were announced, and 30 minutes later walked out having put down a deposit on a Heritage 90 SW! So Defenders in both hemispheres now!!! Really looking forward to getting the 90... will be selling my Lotus Elise to part fund it! Anyway, look forward to becoming a regular on here alone with the other Ozzie guys who post! Cheers, Pete |

Welcome to the forum Pete. You seem to be living my future plan: a life split between Sydney and England with a great car in each hemisphere! I was thinking a Morgan 3 wheeler in the UK though!! Nick

Grew up there mate, know what you mean... but just wait 5 minutes... Love your 90, looks so cool in Keswick. My favourite colour but not madly popular out here eh! Anyway, pleased to have seen your passing comment on AULRO that got me to this place! Many thanks! Pete YOLO... You Only Live Once... |

I'm an old Pom,...I'd love them to win, but I'm afraid to say that the Aussies have got our measure at the moment.
