i have an ext speaker for mine in MSS. didnt even bother trying it without one.

I installed the cb unit lower down the unit and took a section out of the metal at the back by the cubby box so lid can be closed whilst mic plugged in. I have since changed and put bigger unit in and mounted it at the top, because I never bothered to shut the lid, it's always got something init and no one is going to nick a CB.
