Engine rebuild
If you wanted to get a top-quality - OE standard or better - rebuild of a 2.4 Tdci engine, who would you get to do it?

Most of the classic Landrover engine builders such as Cox and Turner don't seem to list the Puma engine, so who is the 'Ashcroft Transmissions' of the engine world?

Any recommendations or personal experiences?

Buy a ivor seale engine

been reconning engines for years and years ( guessing 30-40 yrs)

i have used them ( as do alot the the car trade )

Just done one in a Peugeot boxer van, great to deal with, first class engine, with no problems
£2500 +vat for short engine £700 surcharge on old unit 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered.

Excellent, thanks guys. I'd surprisingly not heard of Ivor Searle before (or at least I don't remember the name) and it looks just the place.

Hopefully I won't need their services just yet but ever mindful of the fact firstly that my 07 is from the era of the hooky PCJs and secondly it's fast approaching 200k miles I have just bought a complete take-out engine from a much lower mileage Defender of the same age for a very favourable price.

This motor runs sweetly but blows quite a lot out of the breather, so best case possibly a broken ring, worst case PCJs causing damaged bores. It is however in my mind to get it remanufactured ready to swap over if and when the need arises.

Try irb developments... if you can get a hold of him.. (maybe worth trying the other tuners such as alive and BAS also)

Blimey! That's good going for one of these?
We're finding that in a transit they are dead at about 140 -150!
I guess they get an easier life in the defender?
Mines on 90.000 so there's still life in the old girl yet Wink 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"
