It will sit between two panels to stop them rubbing together, the radiator sounds like a good bet, but also could be something like the fan ducting, etc.

you sure you didn't just pick it up from the road while driving?, just common unrelated debris? www.ralton.co.za

It's possible I guess, just it seemed to be a bit too far out of the way to be a bit of debris. Nothing else is falling off/out of it and theres no new clunks or rattles so hopefully will be OK untill I can have a proper fumble about... Don't want to waste time booking it in if its nothing major. |

It makes me laugh how something as feeble as a bit of foam with sticky on one side, is used on the production of a "sturdy off road vehicle which should last for donkies years"....
It'll be stiff and hard within a year or 3 (the foam! ), and no good for anyone |

Noticed this on mine today. It is hanging down between the intercooler and the radiator. It appears to be still attached at one corner to the panel fitted across the top of the radiator. You can see some useless adhesive sheen on the top part of it. Have no intention of heading to the dealer specially with it. If it comes off completely I will stick it back between the intercooler and radiator next trip down. Might have been placed there origionally as some sort of buffer material but it seems to be rather ineffectual if it comes off so easily. Will check the radiator and intercooler thoroughly at next service before the warranty runs out. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Managed to get a better look at this. It is supposed to stick to the underside of the plastic that runs across the radiator and intercooler. Should be just a matter of unscrewing the top half of the cowling and sticking the strip back on. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

I wonder how many have fallen off altogether without people even realising.
I just pushed mine back up to where it looked like it was coming from when it was still attached - out of sight out of mind haha. No idea if it's still there but nothing untoward has happened since. |

Found the same offending piece of foam on the ground under mine two weeks after delivery. Showed it to the dealer a couple of weeks later. They didn't have a clue where it came from and promptly discarded it!

it's funny how these manufacturers always use unnecessary bits hey. i remember a year or so ago stripping my suzuki motorcycle and putting it together again and ending up with a whole box full of spare nuts and bolts and things.... www.ralton.co.za

After one month my 110 puma lost exactly the same piece of foam. I found it under the car on my driveway. My dealer didn't know what it was so I kept it in a box. Maybe I'll try to fit it again if I can still find it. Hans

Seems like this is a very common occurence as my mate who's had a Puma here in WA for about 2 years had it drop out a couple of months after buying it.
He asked me what it was as I had 300Tdi at the time and I had no idea so he went to the dealer (known as main stealers in Oz) and of course they were confused as well. Most things seem to confuse them. So in the bin it went. Luckily that appears to be the only prob he's had with his vehicle. Alan. |
