Very pleased with my GG AT2s off road. Impeccable road manners too. Perfect for an AT.
If you want anything more then you get into MTs which start to compromise on road. I recently went in a 90 on wranglers... Wow! The noise! Sounded like it was gonna take off lol Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

KM2's are no compromise on road providing you don't drive like a racer.
Nor are they louder in my opinion, and they'll go anywhere. |

If you had a bogged Navara with a trailer full of haylage I wouldn't have expected a 90 on any sort of AT tyres to pull him out. If we get our 110 and trailer bogged it's straight out with a tractor.
If the Navara wasn't sunk but just didn't have much traction on a greasy surface, get it skinnier tyres. I have first hand witnessed how much of a difference 7.50s on a Defender (driven by me) make compared to wide things on a D4. Obviously you get a lot more choice in 235 width but the principle is still valid. Anyway, lots of useful stuff in this thread: www.defender2.net/forum/post394990.html |

In my experience its caused by the small rolling radius of the trailer tyres. I've had BFG mud's and all terrains, both have dug holes, and the landrover was not stuck. Took the weight of the trailer and drove out fine. First came across this with JCB Fastracks, which would get stuck alot more than standard tracctors, again because the tyres had a smaller rolling radius

What are the Navaras like as a truck? My friend is currently having all manner of issues with his, has anyone on here owned one? Surely they'd be compromised offroad due to its length? 2001 Td5 CSW (weekend and snow mobile) Plenty of lights, M/T tyres EGR delete, roofrack, swing away wheel carrier, snorkel.

Round here they don't have a good reputation for a working vehicle. I know one that's used as a light duty farm truck and that seems to be the limit.
Loads of people using them for on road use though. Farmers that I know have Defenders (loads) Rangers (quite a lot) and Hiluxes (a few). |

The father in laws one is used for everything on the farm and tbh is the first time I had to help but tbh the standard defender was struggling and sliding everywhere and wouldn't touch towing it !
It didn't have a trailer just bfg all terrains with two round bales and 4 conventional bales on the back? The chap that owned the defender was extremely embarrassed when I got there and towed them out ! You sure it wasn't just the Defender driver not knowing how best to use his Defender?
I changed from a MT to conti's about 2 years ago and have been more than impressed with their off road performance. It still drives everywhere the MT's did, including some seriously 'challenging' routes where others have struggled .... Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant. |
