Does e bay not have some sort of protocol relating to the listings being vetted in any way, or does it rely soley on us, the e bayer s , alerting them to potential illegal activity .
Take this listing for example....... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-110-D...43d73937d0 Too good to be true ? Fairly obviously ! Now look at their other items for sale, at least 80% of the cars are complete prices, and I would be amazed it was possible to actually purchase and close the deal on any of them. It doesn't state that any are cat B , C , D etc write offs, ( even if they were they pull more money than is being asked) It is apparently a motor trader whose previous sales and feedback relate mainly to parts, making it appear as though they are a breakers yard. Has anyone ever found similar and actually been able to complete a purchase ?? How/why does e bay allow this I wonder...... "Procrastination is the thief of time" |

Just noticed, most of the photos of their cars look to have been taken either mid to late summer?
Nothing recent. I get the impression that eBay aren't too bothered, as long as they get their fees........ 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

I wonder if I were to buy every vehicle they have for sale, then basically ignore all invoices / requests for payment etc, would they actually have the cheek to report me, give me bad feedback etc!
How could they possibly report me to e bay , for not completing what has to be a fraudulent listing , where no product as advertised even exists..... "Procrastination is the thief of time" |

It's a classified ad not an auction. It's the same as any advert in a paper or autotrader so the usual buyer beware rules apply.

I get that, but is no one responsible for using common sense and any basic form of vetting of these listings, or does allowing the buyer beware get out option, does this then effectively give free reign to thieving, scamming to pull people pants down and dry bum them, if they are stupid enough to think they are buying a Disco 4 for £7500 !! I think we need to pool our monies together and pay them a visit with a view to buying all their stock
That will take some explaining , "wow, really , you have sold them all before we got here , and you now have none of the listed vehicles available !" "Procrastination is the thief of time" |

I've got a wee lorry on it just now with livestock container and thought I had sold it to a guy who was supposidly sending a deposit by cheque but never arrived. Then wanted my bank details details to send a deposit I said I'd wait on him coming and seeing it last saturday but never showed up saying he was stuck in snow/ Sunday gave sob story his mum had died/ Monday desperate for my bank details again to pay in full... |
