Central locking problem ...
I have one door that does not operate with the key fob function.
I can lock the R/O/S door manually by reaching through the drivers door and pushing the button on the top of the door card. I have got to this stage removing the door card and the foam insert. I have a multimeter. Question: I'm thinking I need to check something maybe at that connecter to the motor thingy Embarassed

Is it likley a fuse has popped. Are these all held on one circuit? If the motor is Censored . Does anyone know the part number.

Cheers Alan

More than likely a broken wire in the convoluted tubing between the door post and the door. A real favourite to break due to the flexing when the door is opened and closed.

If you're going for a continuity test try to find the joiner that usually is just poked in the door pillar behind where the rubber convoluted tube fits in. You might be able to spot a break visually by pulling the outer tube loose and pulling backwards and forwards.

Rustyboxx had a similar issue with his electric window, same place (in the gaitor) same issue (cable broken) with some good quality hermetically sealed splices took about 40 minutes to an hour to sort.

Good luck. Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

at £30 for a new one i'm thinking of patching this one up. what are hermatically sealed spices and where to buy?

all i have currently (pardon the pun) are a packet of red/yellow/blue crimps and a simple crimper from Halfrauds ...

I use these MIL standard aerospace grade. They come in three different sizes and have a heatshrink sleeve preformed with resin at each end. When the sleeve is shrunk over the splice the resin melts forming a totally waterproof repair. Blue is the middle size, red smaller and yellow being the largest. Pay for the postage I'll lend you the tool and throw the splices in for free. I must have the tool returned. Alternatively use one of your type and try to keep it out of where it will flex or get damp.

Had the same problem. Just cut and spliced approx 6" cable, then checked offside door and caught one cable with about 3 strands left and the other just cracking, so repaired that as well. rear door seem fine though. Regards
Dennis.
